What is syracuse community fridge?

Syracuse Community Fridge is for anyone, by everyone – No judgement, no stigma, just fresh and free food.

Our mission is to combat food insecurity and reduce waste by ensuring accessible, nutritious food for all. Through our fridge initiative and partnerships, we foster a culture of sharing, support, and sustainability while promoting environmental stewardship and social equity.

While Syracuse Community Fridge is not the sole solution, it serves as an opportunity and support system for community action.

We collaborate with community partners to enhance the existing food rescue network, maintaining refrigerated spaces filled with fresh food and connecting individuals passionate about food justice.

Fridge participants deserve autonomy and dignity; All people deserve access to nutrient dense and fresh food items, full stop no qualifiers. Access to healthy food is a basic human right. Together, we can eliminate inequalities and nourish our community. By being mindful neighbors, we can build a healthier, more sustainable city from the ground up.

Our vision is that the seed is planted with community fridges at a partner locations.

Food recovery partners, volunteers, and participants make it grow. The possibilities are endless, it’s up to us to foster a healthy community and positive growth.

At the heart of our mission is education, sustainability, and community. As we evolve we look to integrate these values into future programming and partnerships.
